PLDESIGNSTUDIO is an award-winning design and architecture studio. The practice is managed by Paola Lugli, an Italian-born architect well-known in the D.C. NoVA community for more than 20 years. Due to her multicultural background, she brings a broad perspective when making design decisions and finding well-adapted solutions for her clients. She shares with her clients and collaborators-other architects, designers, and craftsmen-the best of both architectural worlds and techniques. She specializes in architectural reuse and sustainable architecture and brings passion and creativity to every sized project. Even when building anew, she and her team consider the context to which a building will belong. Always looking for sustainable ways to solve new design challenges, she reuses existing structures to create designs that weave the original building with present needs. At every stage of the design process, she rethinks the space creatively by utilizing light and materials.
